It’s Oscars Night in Chicago!
The annual Academy Awards night is just around the corner and that means it's time to figure out where you’ll be watching this year’s show. To honor cinema’s greatest night, film enthusiasts may gather with their friends, have some snacks, sip a few drinks and argue whether The Revenant was overrated. For those who are looking to get out of their homes on February 28, there are a number of venues in the city showing the Oscars. Some places provide the ambiance of a red carpet movie premiere, while others have a giant screen to broadcast the show. Here are our favorite options for Oscar Night.
Mayne Stage (1328 W Morse Ave)
The Mayne Stage is known for intimate affairs, but on Oscar night, everything will be bigger. The people at the Mayne Stage are promising to show the Oscars on a 22-foot screen, so that way everyone will be able to see. And to help spice up the night, there will be movie trivia during commercial breaks. The event starts at 6pm, so make sure you get there early and get a cocktail as admission is free. You don’t want to lose a spot to some die-hard Brooklyn fans.
The Logan Theatre (2646 N Milwaukee Ave)
If you’re looking for your Oscars viewing party to include all the glitz and glam of a red carpet Hollywood premiere, then the Oscars viewing party at the Logan Theatre is right up your alley. You’ll be able to walk down the red carpet, get your pictures taken and sit back with a cocktail while enjoying Chris Rock roast the #OscarsSoWhite event. The event starts at 7:30pm and will include drink specials, trivia and prizes
Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N State St)
Chicago’s longest-running Oscars viewing party will be pulling out all the stops this year. The Hollywood on State event at the Gene Siskel Film Center will have a red carpet showcase hosted by MasterChef star and fashion designer Tommy Walton and Project Runway contestant Kate Pankoke. Walton will be providing a private culinary experience and attendees will be able to place bids on items during the silent auction. Make sure to look your best as the $100 event requires cocktail attire. The event starts at 7:30pm.
The Drake Hotel (140 E Walton Place)
One of the classiest places in the city, The Drake Hotel’s Oscar viewing party will be a Hollywood affair, complete with a themed food menu and a mega Oscar ballot pool. Tickets start at $116, so make sure you don’t blow your money like those investors did in The Big Short.
