The Friends of Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Libraries will celebrate the centennial of Carl Sandburg’s Chicago Poems with “Singing So Proud” on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 6 p.m. on the 4th floor of Klarcheck Information Commons of LUC’s Lake Shore Campus, 6501 N. Kenmore Avenue. The event will also support the Loyola University Chicago Libraries. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served prior to dinner and poetry at 7 p.m.

Illinois Poet Laureate, Kevin Stein, PhD, will speak on “Sandburg’s Chicago Poems: The Poetics of Populism,” and poetry readings will be provided by Hon. Toni Preckwinkle, Nike Whitcomb, Hon. Jesse White, and other luminaries.
