OUT Chicago’s LGBTQ Visitor’s Guide
Windy City Times, the news source for the Chicago area Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans, and Queer community has released a print version of OUT Chicago’s LGBTQ Visitor’s Guide. This conveniently sized guide has a thorough listing of just about anything you would ever want to do in Chicago. Restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, tourist attractions, theaters of every kind, sporting activities, festivals, historical sites, markets, celebrations, community events, and more can be found in the guide. OUT offers lists both mainstream and LGBTQ activities, and it covers all of Chicago but focuses on Boystown and Andersonville.
I live in Boystown and I had no idea there was this much going on. For example, there’s a legacy walk in Lakeview East with plaques to various civil rights leaders along the way. This guide is more or less a list of all these activities and groups, resources, events, many fantastic things. A google search is necessary to find more info and decide actual plans. The guide focuses a bit more on gay than lesbian coverage, but Boystown does have a bit more going on than Andersonville so this is not surprising. I didn’t think the restaurant write-ups were entirely accurate. I would use Chicago Magazine or Zagat to choose restaurants, and use this guide for exploring the greater Boystown area.
