WHAT: Bill Savage and Emily Rapport talk art, Chicago's history of urban planning, and her current exhibit at Firecat Projects,
Subject to Change: Urban Landscape and the Architecture of Place.
SO WHAT: Savage teaches in the English Department at Northwestern University and at the Newberry Library. He focuses Chicago literature (focusing on Nelson Algren) and urban studies, with emphasis on the experiential cityscape, vernacular architecture, and the deeper meanings of mundane places like hot dog stands and bars. He just published an annotated edition of George Ade’s 1931 anti-Prohibition polemic,
The Old-Time Saloon: Not Wet, Not Dry—Just History (University of Chicago Press).
Rapport studied painting at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York and received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Amsterdam. The exhibit of her work is open through May 20.

welcoming Oscar Lopez Rivera home.
SO WHAT: The Puerto Rican independence activist, imprisoned for 35 years, was recently released from prison after President Barack Obama commuted his sentence. Oscar co-founded Chicago's
Puerto Rican Cultural Center 45 years ago. This is the event schedule:

WHAT: A place to get your fill of anime and more!
SO WHAT: Anime Central (ACen) is the largest anime, manga and Japanese popular culture convention in Chicago and the Midwest. The event brings fans together to enjoy their fandom with a huge exhibit hall, a massive video game room, concerts, dances, educational panels and workshops, premiere screenings, autograph sessions, 24-hour video rooms, tabletop gaming, and much more!
NOW WHAT: Registration for the event is currently open. Three day passes are $70 for adults and $15 for children aged 6-12. Single day passes are $45 for Friday or Saturday and $30 for Sunday at the con!
CCBW Putt-Putt at Revolution Brewing @ Revolution Tap Room, 3340 N Kedzie Ave, Various times
WHAT: Putt-putting our way through Revolution Brewing for Chicago Craft Beer Week
SO WHAT: The Revolution Brewing crew have been creating a 9-hole Revolution themed mini-golf course throughout the brewery. You'll get a chance to show off your putting skills and enjoy all the great beers the local brewer has to offer. There will also be food trucks throughout the weekend including Piko Street Kitchen on Friday from 3pm until 7pm, The Bruges Brothers on Saturday from 2pm until 7pm, and The Empanada Bike on Sunday from 3pm until 6pm
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $40 per tee time for 4 people per slot. Tickets include a 9-hole round of golf and a can of their newest crushable brew, Sun Crusher! Individual, day-of tee times may be purchased for $10 at the Tap Room, subject to availability.

WHAT: A prom for adults!
SO WHAT: Santah and Movers&Shakers will present the 3rd annual Prom-A-Llama at 1st Ward/Chop Shop. This will be an opportunity to relive all your favorite prom memories plus everything you wished your prom could have been. Dress to the nines as this is the night to go all out because your an adult now and can party way better than you could in highschool. There will be special cover sets from some of Chicago's finest giving you a dance floor is no joke and will be full of surprises all night long including performances from Glam Camp, Gramps The Vamp and more!

SATURDAY, MAY 20th
MAKE X Release and BarBookQue @ Hideout Inn, 1354 W Wabansia Ave, 2:00PM - 6:00PM
WHAT: The official Chicago release of this amazing anthology, MAKE X: A Decade of Literary Art, from featherproof books.
SO WHAT: This fantastic book release will feature a BarBookQue (aw the time honored tradition of puns) with some tasty offerings including world-renowned pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, veggie burgers, Vitner's potato chips, and more! Starting at 3:00pm, Adam Burke will act as host while contributors to the book and friends of MAKE (including authors Kathleen Rooney and Martin Seay; visual artist John Sparagana; Chicago historian Paul Durica; Mexico City-based poet Luis Felipe Fabre via video; and many more) will highlight their personal favorite sections of the anthology. There will be a not-to-be-missed live performance from Chicago writer and musician Marvin Tate. He'll be accompanied by the guitarist Bill MacKay, with visuals by Kim Alpert. Throughout the afternoon there will also be rotating DJs, including poet Fred Schmalz!

NOW WHAT: Ultra Fresh II will feature some of the best breweries Chicagoland has to offer, all pouring the freshest beer you'll ever get your hands on, at one of the city's most unique venues, Right Way Signs of Chicago.
