Watch Michael Cera and Abbi Jacobson’s Newest Movie on a Swanky Rooftop

There's an organization in New York City, founded in 1997, whose mission is solely to present great films in great locations. Specifically, on rooftops. They are Rooftop Films, and every summer from May to August, they present independent films (weather permitting) on rooftops across the city, paired with live music, refreshments and the essential after-party. Chicago, as it happens, has its own version of this high-rise film scene in Elevated Films. Admittedly of a smaller scale, the organization - also a non-profit and also focused on screening films on top of buildings - kicks off their summer programming next week with an event on Monday, July 17 at Columbia College Chicago. That evening, they'll present an exclusive advanced screening of Person To Person on the second floor roof deck of the college's Media Production Center (1600 S. State Street). The film follows a variety of young New Yorkers and their myriad adventures over a single day, and stars Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) and Oak Park native Tavi Gevinson (founder of Rookie magazine and an up-and-coming actress in her own right). Filmmaker Dustin Defa and actor Bene Coopersmith will be in attendance; stick around for a post-film Q&A moderated by Chicago-based filmmaker Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, Easy). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lyMK5VDCNE Summer is a great time for movies in Chicago, a city already boasting an embarrassment of screening options any time of year. With the warm weather and outdoor screenings, there's no shortage of great films to see any night of the week. Kudos to Elevated Films for adding an independent, thoughtful note to this particular events calendar.
