It's another great weekend in Chicago! The weather is starting to cool down and Twin Peaks: The Return has ended, but the events as always are going strong! Theater, jokes, music, street art fairs, and art are all highlighted in this week's curated picks. Don't miss out! THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th ClickHole @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 9:00PM WHAT: ClickHole at The Hideout SO WHAT:  The Onion’s publication Clickhole, which satirizes sites like Buzzfeed and the culture surrounding “clickbait,” will be featuring its writers at the Hideout for three hours of comedy that will include present stories, tales, and PowerPoint presentations. That’s right, PowerPoint presentations. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 for this comedy show! FRIDAY - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th - 10th Semi-Circus presents Murmurations & Natalja Aicardi presents The Selkie @ Congregational Church of Jefferson Park, 5320 W Giddings St WHAT: A fun show full of circus, a little dance and tons of physical theater. SO WHAT: Murmurations is a show about five friends attending a support group who take a closer look at human quirks. Using physical theater and circus, they explore psychology through the lens of social interaction, friendship, and sacrifice while working to overcome their hidden struggles—and face their fears. It’s a genuine interdisciplinary romp using elements of clown, comedy, dance, drama, physical theater, and even puppetry! Natalja Aicardi presents The Selkie, a one woman show that tells the story of a magical creature who got her skin stolen and her long journey back to reclaim what she’s made of. Using physical theater & songs to awaken the spirit of freedom and self-expression. It’s tragedy, it’s comedy, it’s in English, in Italian and in French but the main language is that of the body and the voice. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10. The event is part of the Chicago Fringe Festival, which takes place thru September 10th. Entry into all shows at the festival requires a one-time $5 button per patron. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th pew pew pew: New Works by Scott Listfield @ Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, 2780 N Lincoln Ave., 7:00PM - 10:00PM WHAT: Fans of all things astronaut rejoice! SO WHAT: Artist Scott Listfield for his second solo exhibit at Rotofugi. This new exhibit showcases Listfield’s iconic astronauts exploring various pop culture and video game worlds and the results are wonderful! Come by and experience this opening reception for great art, snacks, music by DJ Sean Doe, and a chance to meet the artist! NOW WHAT: This BYOB opening reception is free! The exhibit continues through October 1. Sales for this exhibit begin at 11am on opening day, and via email to their previews list starting at 2pm that afternoon.   SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th Richard Edwards/Duncan Kissinger/Vess Ruhtenberg @ Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln Ave., 9:00PM WHAT: A wonderful show featuring the creative force behind Margot and the Nuclear So-Sos SO WHAT: Richard Edwards has gone through some hardships, in particular being diagnosed with a potentially fatal stomach ailment that forced him to cancel a sold-out tour, spend years recovering from surgery, and the end of his marriage. During that difficult time he wrote, rewrote, and recorded Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset, his first solo album that feels like a definite step forward in his musical mastery. Joining him will be Duncan Kissinger and Vess Ruhtenberg. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $20 for this special night! SATURDAY & SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th& 10th Garage Sale @ Open Books Pilsen, 905 W 19th St., 10:00AM - 5:00PM WHAT: Rows and rows of books SO WHAT: Open Books Pilsen is hosting their bi-annual Garage Sale where there will be a glorious collection of books outside the store for you to peruse and purchase. All paperback books will be $3, all hardcover will be $4, and all kids’ books will be $2. Plus, you can fill up an entire box of books (35-40 books total) for only $40! NOW WHAT: This event is free! Renegade Craft Fair @ Wicker Park, Division Street between Damen Ave. and Ashland Ave., 11:00AM - 7:00PM WHAT: A craft fair focused on independent makers. SO WHAT: Over 400+ independent crafters and makers will be at this Renegade Craft Fair celebrating DIY spirit for two amazing days celebrating 15 years of this flagship hometown fair. There will be DJ sets by Lumpen Radio, Reckless Records and CHIRP, tons of food trucks to keep your energy up and hunger down, and an array of creative activities to make your day as creative as it can be! NOW WHAT: The event is free and open to the public. The fair will be on Division Street between Damen and Ashland, giving you tons of space to shop and support DIY crafters.
