Summer may be coming to an end but the the warm weather is holding on, giving our beautiful city even more reasons to head out and explore! So let's add some events to your schedule and give this wonderful week a fresh start!
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th
Salonathon: Dreams and Those Who Dream Them @ Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., 8:30PM
WHAT: A weekly show of experimental work featuring an inclusive creative community throwing a great party!
SO WHAT: The theme of this week's Salonathon, hosted by Bindu Poroor, is Dreams and Those Who Dream Them, a chance to get together and write letters to Congresspeople in support of DACA and beyond. Join the party and experience a line up of fantastic Chicago artists performing some underground, emerging, and genre-defying art and stick around for a fun community with jams provided by DJ All the Way Kay. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th
Design Double Feature @ Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave.,
WHAT: It’s an exciting double feature for lovers of graphic design, type fonts and the digital revolution. Graphic Means: A History of Graphic Design Production and Pressing On: The Letterpress Film. These two docs represent the revolutions in graphic design, printing and technology over the last century. Pressing On also shows the current renaissance of letterpress printing
SO WHAT: One night only! Graphic Means screens at 7pm and Pressing On at 8:30pm. Come early and have a drink in the Music Box lounge and patio. Presented by the Society for Typographic Arts and Field Notes. Read our review of the films.
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door.
Tuesdays on the Terrace @ Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E Chicago Ave., 5:30PM
WHAT: Enjoy an evening of free music on the MCA’s Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden
SO WHAT: This annual summer performance series, hosted by Al Carter-Bey rom WDCB 90.0 FM and Richton Guy Thomas from WHPK 88.5 FM, highlights artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned jazz community. This evening's sounds will be created by Tatsu Aoki’s The MIYUMI Project. In case of rain, the event moves inside to the MCA’s Kovler Atrium.
NOW WHAT: The concert series is free and open seating is still available on the terrace or bring a blanket to relax on the lawn. MCA will offer regular food service including a buffet, which features a changing menu of themed dishes using fresh, locally grown produce for $30 per person. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th
Hopped Up Tap Takeover with Penrose & New Belgium@ House of Blues, 329 N Dearborn St., 5:00
WHAT: An amazing pair of breweries comes to House of Blues
SO WHAT: Hopped Up is and evening where a brewery takes over the taps at House of Blues. This evening will be special as it will be a dual tap takeover featuring beers starting at $4 from Penrose & New Belgium's solid lineup of delicious beers. There will be plenty of giveaways all night and Corey Dennison will be handling the live music.

Father John Misty and Weyes Blood @ Auditorium Theatre, 50 E Congress Pkwy , 6:30PM
WHAT: The indie world's foremost musical genius and consummate trickster
SO WHAT: There is no denying Father John Misty's immense talent. The latest musical project of Josh Tillman is an interesting persona that critiques the world around him with achingly beautiful tunes that feel authentic even when they reach far into his sardonic tone. He will be joined by Weyes Blood, whose amazing voice and tender instrumentation will pair nicely and make for an unforgettable evening.

A Babely Bazaar @ Slippery Slope, 2357 N Milwaukee Ave., 8:00PM - 11:00PM
WHAT: Slippery Slope is showcasing some very talented local artists!
SO WHAT: Local artists will have their fantastic creations on display for you to browse and buy! You can grab a bite to eat, have a drink and purchase yourself a one of a kind gift. Each of these artists will have her own booth featuring a variety of unique & handmade items. The featured artists include Amanda Stilwell w/ Lastcraft, Mickey Alice Kwapis, Jana Shute w/ Girl Fawkes Pins, Genesis Maciel Rios, Live Painting w/ Andrea Bell, Meena Osei-Kuffour w/ Vintage Royalty, and Jason Hoodrich w/ Family Tattoo.
