The meeting place of unapologetic entertainment and a carefully curated blend of classic titles and obscure rarities, the Music Box Theatre continues its strong programming this fall. The annual, 24-hour Music Box of Horrors hits the legendary venue like a bolt of lightning, beginning Saturday, October 7 at noon and running until noon the following day. This year’s edition is particularly notable thanks to a pair of tributes to recently departed masters of horror, Tobe Hooper and George A. Romero, with nearly every film screening this year from a 35mm print.
Music Box of Horrors returns to the Music Box Theatre October 7-8For his third consecutive year, the event is guest programmed by Will Morris, assistant programmer at Los Angeles’American Cinematheque, and he promises “the exploits of zombified police run-ins and adolescent lycanthropy; dizzying dives into the wicked seductions of the occult; uber-degradation of the otherwise-sane mindscape; nuns in a water-locked convent; and much more."
The Music Box of Horrors also features a host of vendor tables and local food trucks stopping by throughout the night. For details on each film or to purchase a pass ($30 in advance; $35 on the day), go to the Music Box Theatre online. The full schedule includes:
