The fall weather is finally here with its cool temps and a few rain showers. Some events over the weekend had to be postponed at the last minute, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the start of this week. We have quite a few suggestions on how to spend the next few days. While you begin scheduling your week with these fun curated picks, I highly suggest you look ahead at some events like the Tour, Lore, and Tasting at Jesse Wheaton Homestead. MONDAY, OCTOBER 23rd
The Flat Five Fall Freak Out Residency @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 7:00PM, 21+
WHAT: The place you'll want to be every Monday
SO WHAT: The Flat Five are the super group that Chicago needs. Made up of Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor and Alex Hall, the band's debut album It’s a World of Love and Hope is made up entirely of songs by Chicago mainstay Chris Ligon. Their sound is everything you could want from these music masters: sweet and twisted pop songs that will get stuck in your head. Now you can see them mix things up like the good ole days at this multi-month residency where they will be trying a whole mess of beautiful things every Monday night. This is an all request night, so get your favorite classics ready and see the band knock them out of the park.

Salonathon: Seeking an Oracle @ Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., 8:00PM, 21+
WHAT: A weekly show of experimental work featuring an inclusive creative community throwing a great party!
SO WHAT: The theme of this week's Salonathon is a chance for you to find a true North, a guide, reliable advice, wise counsel. So come out and join the search party! Feel the love with this line up of fantastic Chicago artists performing some underground, emerging and genre-defying art and stick around for a fun community with jams provided by DJ All The Way Kay. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24th
Cinema Science: The Fly @ Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave., 7:15PM
WHAT: Join DNA expert and Field Museum scientist Erica Zahnle for a screening of The Fly at Music Box Theatre!
SO WHAT: The Field Museum and the Music Box Theatre are coming together for Field Trips: Cinema Silence, a special series of film screenings dedicated to diving into the science behind some of Hollywood’s greatest blockbusters. Each screening will feature science professionals and lecturers introducing the films and providing a forum for discussion following the film. This edition of the series will have Erica Zahnle focusing on David Cronenberg's The Fly! Zahnle is the lead educator for the DNA Discovery Center, a permanent exhibition that helps Museum visitors explore the science behind DNA, and a research assistant in the Pritzker Lab. She will be stopping by the Music Box to discuss and elaborate on the movie science at hand, from the teleportation device to the scifi monstrosities it creates!

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25th
Geof Darrow @ Chicago Comics, 3244 N Clark St., 5:00PM - 7:00PM, All ages
WHAT: Chicago Comics welcomes local legend, Geof Darrow!
SO WHAT: Geof Darrow's art is some of the most intense you will see in and out of the sequential art world. His work balances excellent storytelling with a magnitude of detail that can leave you looking at a piece/panel/doodle for hours on end and still discover something new. Coinciding with the release of his newest book, Shaolin Cowboy: Who Will Stop the Reign, Darrow will be stopping by Chicago Comics for signing. There will be a four-item limit on books you can bring for him to sign and every purchase of his new book at the shop will qualify you to enter a raffle to win a piece of original art!

WHAT: Music at chill lounge
SO WHAT: The Robey has a new series, After Work, where local artists will play intimate, stripped-down sets in their second floor lounge. Don't miss out on cocktail, beer and wine specials as you are serenaded by some of the best acts in Chicago. This week the series features a beautiful set by Lili K!
NOW WHAT: This is series is free and a great way to discover new artists.
CHIRP Night w/ Glad Rags and Power Pup @ The Whistler, 2421 N Milwaukee Ave., 8:30PM, 21+
WHAT: A monthly dose of CHIRP-curated music at the Whistler
SO WHAT: Every fourth Wednesday of the month, CHIRP takes over the Whistler for an evening of great music performed by CHIRP-curated local artists. You will be able to enjoy some wonderful music, the Whistler’s take on classic cocktails, and the good feeling of supporting independent radio at this monthly event. This edition of the event will feature two wonderful bands: Glad Rags and Power Pup!

¡Pachanga!: Dia de los Muertos @ East Room, 2354 N Milwaukee Ave., 10:00PM, 21+
WHAT: An evening full of dancing, art and fun times!
SO WHAT: Rude Gents and the Life Project Chicago present ¡Pachanga!: Dia de los Muertos edition where you can dance the night away to a variety of Latin music styles like Cumbias, Salsa, Merengue, and much more! There will also be a late night Tianguis (artist market) with La Vida No Espera Merchandise, Braid Bar (By Patty & Violeta) and Gabriela Ibarra and live painting by Keithstone Smith, Rebeca Soto, and Virafuentes Nat.
