CPS Unveils Plans to Build New Englewood High School, Replace Four
CPS Interim Chief Janice Jackson revealed renderings of a new high school in Englewood, to be equipped with outdoor sports facilities and health center, and a vocational training program. Architect Renauld Mitchell is heading up the design plan that comes just ahead of public hearings to shut down four of Englewood's under-enrolled high schools. The Chicago Teachers Union plans to draw supporters to the public hearings, in fear of the future of the children currently enrolled at those schools. The new campus would cost about $85 million to build (Chicago Tribune).
