Teachers Union Demands Reversal of ‘Failed Policies’

The Chicago Teachers Union delivered a letter to Mayor Rahm Emanuel Monday outlining what they call a a six-point program that “outlines a reset of public policies that have hurt neighborhood schools and their students.” Among the demands include a declaration of support for an Elected School Board, partnering with the CTU to build a Sustainable Community School District, investing in - rather than closing - four schools in Englewood, and “allow(ing) the new CPS CEO to end the attack on veteran educators – particularly veteran Black educators (via press release).
