Major U of C Donors Want Their $100 Million Back
Two brothers who pledged a contribution of $100 million to the University of Chicago now are asking for their money back: specifically, the $22 million paid to the university since the gift was agreed to in 2015. Wealthy twin brothers Thomas and Timothy Pearson pledged the money for creation of an institute to study global conflict resolution. Now they're suing in federal court demanding the money back because they say the university breached the agreement. The university says the charge is "baseless." At the time the contribution was given, it was tied as the second-largest donation ever received at the school. (Crain's Chicago Business)
