Chicagoans Rally and Celebrate International Women’s Day

Hundreds rallied at the Thompson Center Thursday as part of global events for International Women’s Day. The rally, which was hosted by local labor unions to call for equal pay and better working conditions for women in the workplace, capped off a day of events celebrating women in Chicago. “I’m fighting for a future where my children and grandchildren don’t have to worry about harassment on the job,” said Genoveva Ramirez, a janitor and member of the Service Employees International Union Local 1. Events also took place at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Merchandise Mart, Pilsen tech hub 1871, and the DuSable Museum of African American History. (Visu.News)
