This edition of the Fresh Start is filled with some fun concerts. Summer officially starts later this week and what better way to celebrate than some excellent music from local bands and beyond! So whether you're looking for jazz, hip hop, rock, or pop, there's a show for you this week!

WHAT: A fantastic band’s two night stint at an excellent venue
SO WHAT: Wand will be celebrating the release of their new album Plum an the expansion of their band (Evan Burrows, Cory Hanson, Lee Lande, and two new members: Robbie Cody & Sofia Arregui) with two nights of unhinged pysh rock. Joining them on Monday will be
Dead Rider and
Itasca, while Tuesday will see Dead Rider and
Bill Mackay & Riley Walker join the musical fray!

Lean On Me: José James Celebrates Bill Withers and
Kahil El'Zabar Arts Heritage Ensemble with special guest David Murray (improvised Jazz)! In honor of the Juneteenth celebration, the event will begin with a new poem from interdisciplinary artist avery r. young.

Celebration: 826CHI Teen Writers Studio Book Release @ Poetry Foundation, 61 W Superior St, 7:00pm, All Ages
WHAT: Join 826CHI students, staff, volunteers, friends, and family for the release of the annual Teen Writers Studio chapbook at the Poetry Foundation.
SO WHAT: Throughout the school year, members of the Teen Writers Studio meet at 826CHI to practice writing and explore their personal styles. This chapbook release is the culmination of all of that hard work and growth, and cause for celebration. A reception will follow the program.
NOW WHAT: It’s free! 826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6–18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
