THURSDAY - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th - 15th
Trouble in Paradise @ Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave., 8:00pm, 21+
WHAT: Trouble In Mind Records and Paradise of Bachelors present Trouble in Paradise, a three-day festival showcasing a simpatico sampling of both record labels’ critically acclaimed and wide-ranging international rosters.
SO WHAT: Chicagoans Lisa and Bill Roe of Trouble in Mind and Brendan Greaves and Christopher Smith of Paradise of Bachelors have come together for a festival that feels more like a party! The lineup looks downright amazing with the likes of FACS, James Elkington, The Weather Station, MATCHESS, Omni & Nap Eyes, and more! Check out the full lineup here!
NOW WHAT: Three day passes are $30! Tickets for Friday are $10, while Saturday and Sunday tickets are $15 per day!
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th
A Conversation with Common: Activism in an Age of Polarization @ Auditorium Theatre, 50 E Congress Pkwy,7:00pm, All Ages
WHAT: A conversation that's part of Roosevelt University's American Dream Reconsidered conference.
SO WHAT: Academy Award, Golden Globe, Emmy and Grammy-winning actor and musician Common will lead a conversation about the need to inspire young students to enact positive change in their communities. With an incredible history as an activist and philanthropist, Common will share his thoughts on how we can continue to produce generations of dreamers and leaders who make a difference in a polarized society. The conversation will be moderated by singer, producer, and performer Maggie Brown.

Big Lebowski Beer Party with Pipeworks Brewing @ The Logan Theatre, 2646 N Milwaukee Ave, 7:00pm, 21+
WHAT: An evening with beer inspired by The Dude
SO WHAT: Pipeworks Brewing Company has brewed another batch of their original white Russian milk stout, “Hey, Careful Man, There’s a Beverage Here.” Since it only comes around every so often, they’re throwing a Lebowski-themed party for the occasion at Logan Theatre! The party will include a a few rounds of trivia and the tapping of the brew starting at 7:00pm.
NOW WHAT: There’s no cover for the party in the lounge, but tickets are $10 for the 10:00pm screening! Put on your best cardigan, get your bowling ball, and avoid the nihilists as you party down with all the other appropriately dressed Dudes.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th - 16th
Riot Fest 2018 @ Douglas Park, 1401 S Sacramento Dr., Noon - 10:00pm, All ages
WHAT: After a lot of waiting for news, the three-day fest of punk, rock, hip-hip and everything in between is upon us!
SO WHAT: Chicago’s festival season is coming to an end with one of the most raucous and high-energy events: Riot Fest! This awesome three-day festival brings together the loudest and most fun sounds in the music world for a wild time. This year headliners include Weezer, Beck, Run the Jewels, Elvis Costello & the Imposters, and more!

70mm Film Festival @ The Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave., Various Times, All Ages
WHAT: Amazing movies shown in an equally amazing format!
SO WHAT: The Music Box Theatre loves to find reasons to play films in 70mm, which offers much-improved sharpness and clarity—as much as four times the resolution of 35mm and digital projection. This year Chicao's amazing Music Box will once again be showing some beautiful films in 70mm, 12 in total, including eight that have never before screened at the Music Box, all projected onto a massive 16×36 foot screen. NOW WHAT: Festival passes are available for $70 for general audiences and $60 for Music Box members; individual tickets are $14 GA, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for members and kids. WHAT: New sounds for your Friday night pleasure
SO WHAT: Rina Sawayama is a British-Japanese songwriter rafting some of the most interesting, glittery, and welcoming synth bangers in the pop world. She will be joined by the equally talented Dorian Electra !

Lebowski Fest Chicago 2018 @ Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N Clark St, 6:30pm, All Ages
WHAT: Lebowski Fest returns to the Windy City
SO WHAT: Celebrate 20 years of The Big Lebowski with a live Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band The Fortunate Sons, a massive outdoor screening of the film at Lincoln Park Zoo and free carousel rides!
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $20 and children 5 and under free!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th
Daylight Disco: The Second City Sessions @ Cerise Rooftop, 203 N Wabash Ave, 2:00pm - 8:00pm, 21+
WHAT: Party in the middle of the day with The Second City Sessions
SO WHAT: The 2018 season of Daylight Disco will finish off with two Chicago legends: Colette and DJ Heather aka The Second City Sessions. These are two of Chicago’s most respected house music curators, having started their careers in the all-female DJ collective SuperJane in the early '90s. Since then they have traveled the world putting on some of the best DJ sets you’ll ever hear and this back to back homecoming show is the perfect way to cap off your summer.
NOW WHAT: Get your party on as well as some responsible day drinking amidst the Chicago skyline at Cerise. Tickets for this 21+ rooftop set are currently $10!
Pollyanna Oktoberfest! @ Pollyanna Brewing Company, 431 Talcott Ave, 3:00pm -11:00pm, All Ages
WHAT: An Oktoberfest celebration!
SO WHAT: Pollyanna Brewing Company is throwing an Oktoberfest party where they will be the only brewery in the area pouring a Great American Beer Festival award winning Oktoberfest beer! Their bronze award winning Fruhauf Oktoberfest Lager will be keeping those steins full and Weber Grill Restaurant and Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria will be grilling up all sorts of Oktoberfest fare. They will also have “The Hop Tent” for all you hop heads out there! Add in some music from Bruce Korosa Polka Band (3:30-6:00), Camoflouge Sun (5:30-7:30), and Jimmy Nick (8:30-10:30) and you will surely have a great time!

WHAT: Relive your '90s with this night at Beat Kitchen
SO WHAT: '90s Night with Nickelodeon’s Pete and Pete is a live journey through the last decade of the past millennium utilizing audio, visual and on-stage interactions for optimal nostalgia. Danny Tambereli and Michael C Maronna of Pete & Pete will have a meet and greet for everyone, critique some of the old shorts, read some scenes with lucky attendees, and curate the night with their favorite '90s tunes.
