Officials with the Chicago Police and CTA say that shortly before 8:00am a man was hit by a southbound train and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have yet to release any further details about the man or the situation.
According to Fox32, the incident initially halted service on Red, Brown and Purple lines, but service slowly began moving with delays around 9:00am but skipped the Belmont station as police and fire officials conducted an investigation.
“We apologize for the disruption to service; there was a collision between a train and a person at Belmont, resulting in a medical emergency,” the CTA tweeted.
In additional tweets, the CTA said it was still working to restore normal service, and that trains were operating with residual delays at 10:11am.

As he faces a torrent of investigations and congressional inquiries, President Donald Trump tweeted a note of sympathy for former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Trump was referencing a Fox interview with Patti Blagojevich on "The Story with Martha MacCallum" on Friday. Blagojevich appeared on the show to discuss her husband, and likened his prosecution to the investigations the President is facing.
"It's a very dirty business." said Blagojevich. “When these prosecutors with their unchecked power and no oversight on them at all can go after whatever politician they want. They say those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and all they have to do is look back at what they did to my husband 10 years ago to see what their doing to President Trump right now."
Rod Blagojevich was convicted in 2010 of 11 criminal accounts related to an attempt to sell off former President Barack Obama’s then seat in the Senate. Additionally, Blagojevich was convicted of separate criminal charges related to the extortion of Children's Memorial Hospital CEO Patrick Magoon. He was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison, and has presently served about half that.
This year Patti Blagojevich has appealed to Trump multiple times to commute her husband’s sentence, and Trump has made hints that he has been mulling the idea over.
In May, Trump said he had thought Rod Blagojevich’s 18 year sentence was unfair, and that he was convicted "for being stupid and saying things that every other politician, you know, that many other politicians say." Afterward, Patti made a public plea for help on Fox. Since, she’s made several public appeals, including an op-ed for The Washington Times.
Earlier in December, Blagojevich told the Sun-Times she hoped her husband would be home for Christmas, telling Michael Sneed investigations into Trump feel like “deja vu” but that she felt positive about clemency.
“I feel like there has been a good response from people who know the president and are close to him,” she said. “It’s all positive. We know the president will do what he thinks is the right thing to do. Our fate is in his hands, and he knows and has said how unfair Rod’s sentence was, and I know he has a lot on his plate right now.”
Blagojevich himself however, was no fan of giving pardons or clemency to others while he served as governor. During his tenure he denied 93 percent of pardon or clemency requests.
