Chicago Restaurant Week has been extended thanks to last week's polar vortex, the Chicago Auto Show is kicking off this week, and so many great musicians, artists, and interactive events are waiting for for you! So let's get on with your curated weekend! ALL WEEKEND LONG, FEBRUARY 7th -10th Chicago Restaurant Week 2019 @ Various Restaurants, Various times WHAT: The 12th annual culinary celebration is extended! SO WHAT: Over 370 restaurants take part in Restaurant Week (which is actually 2 weeks), letting everyone have a taste of Chicago’s restaurant scene from Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese and more! You can feast on delicious multi-course menus all across the city and suburbs including over 100 new participants for 2019. You can find all the participating restaurants on the Restaurant Week website! NOW WHAT: The prix fixe menus range from $22 for brunch or lunch, and $33 and/or $44 for dinner (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity). THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7th Liner Notes: A Musical Storytelling Series @ GMan Tavern, 3740 N Clark St, 7:00pm - 10:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Awesome people talking about music SO WHAT: Liner Notes, hosted and curated by Shannon Nico Shreibak, is a monthly storytelling series where writers, musicians, and members of the arts community reflect on the albums that changed their lives—for better, or for worse. Speakers will include Jason Narducy of Split Single and Superchunk discussing a mystery album, Sarah Joyce of GlitterGuts Photobooth discussing Serpentine Gallery by Switchblade Symphony, and Brett Crawford of Metro Chicago, Smartbar Chicago, and Melting Sun discussing Warped Tour 2005 Compilation. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8th Family After Dark: Galactic Game Night @ The Adler Planetarium, 1300 S Lake Shore Dr, 5:30pm - 9:30pm, All Ages WHAT:  A family-friendly version of  Adler After Dark, Family After Dark! SO WHAT: Transform your family into a team of galactic explorers and embark on your first mission together at Family After Dark! You'll have full access and admission to museum exhibits and galleries to take part in a fun journey where you gather information about the planets and our Solar System to report back to your commander! You’ll use your imagination to conquer alien invaders, protect yourselves from space junk, and overcome obstacles on the surface of Mars. When your crew complete your mission card, you can turn it in for a special prize! You'll also be able to enjoy unlimited sky shows in the planetarium's 2 state-of-the-art theaters, live entertainment, and kiddie-cocktails, regular cocktails, snacks, and meals will be available for purchase at the event bars and café. Smalls to the Walls Group Show @ Galerie F, 2415 N Milwaukee Ave., 6:00pm - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: A new group exhibition of art at the fantastic Galerie F SO WHAT: Galerie F is kicking off 2019 with a stellar group show featuring 2D and 3D small, accessible original works. They've assembled a killer line up of artists who will create artwork in an 8"x10" format and all priced at $250.00 or less. The lineup is huge, so go over to their event page to see all the amazing artists taking part! NOW WHAT: This event is free, open to the public and kid friendly.The exhibition runs through March 3rd. Bassel and the Supernaturals / Kayem / Mike Maimone / Dassit @ Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln Ave., 8:00pm, 18+ WHAT: A release party that you won’t want to miss! SO WHAT: Bassel & The Supernaturals are known for their catchy blend neo-soul and funk that is underlined by captivating lyrics about love & loss. This release party is for their latest album Calculated Love, filled with the perfect grooves and images of meaningful love instead of unrealistic cookie cutter Hollywood romances, that will warm you up this upcoming Valentine’s Day! Joining Bassel & The Supernaturals for this worthwhile hometown show will be joined by Kayem, Mike Maimone, and DASSiT. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show, for this fantastic show! SATURDAY & BEYOND, FEBRUARY 9th - 18th 2019 Chicago Auto Show @ McCormick Place, 2301 S Martin Luther King Dr, 10:00am - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: The nation’s largest auto show SO WHAT: A car lover’s favorite annual tradition is back as the Chicago Auto Show giving you chance to check out what’s new in the world of automobiles! With 100s of different vehicles on display ranging from concept cars, soon to be available consumer vehicles, competition vehicles, and collector cars, the  auto show is always a treat.  Check out their website for a taste at what will be on the floor! NOW WHAT: Tickets are $13 for adults, $7 for seniors (62+) and children (7-12). Children 0-6 enter for free! SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9th Chicago Vegan Test Kitchen: Love Yo' Self Valentine's Market @ Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 11:00am - 3:00pm, All Ages WHAT: Chicago’s Vegan Test Kitchen is a community of local plant based chefs and vendors of cruelty free goods, and beauty and wellness products. SO WHAT: CVTK’s Love Yo’ Self Valentine’s Market Pop-up will be coming to Pilsen with a meticulously curated Vegan Bazaar featuring local vegan treats from conscious local chefs and vendors providing cruelty free goods. There will also be a fully stocked bar to help wash down that delicious grub. You can check out all the vendors and chefs that will be in attendance over at their event page! NOW WHAT: Entry is free!  Handmade Market Chicago @ Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave, Noon - 4:00pm, WHAT: Shopping, eating, and drinking all in one place SO WHAT: Grab some food next door at Bite Cafe, maybe a drink from the Empty Bottle Bar, and start shopping the Handmade Market Chicago! They will be bringing over 30 makers of beautiful and unique items to the Empty Bottle! Join in and see what all the sellers will have to offer. You can check out some of the sellers that will be featured over on their Facebook events page. NOW WHAT: This event as always is free! SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10th Logan Square Farmer's Market @ Emporium Arcade Bar Logan Square, 2363 N Milwaukee Ave, 10:00 - 3:00pm, WHAT: The Logan Square Farmer's Market, one of the few farmers markets that runs weekly through winter, providing much appreciated direct income to farmers and the local food economy. SO WHAT:  You'll find 35+ local (farmers within 250mi of Chicago and closer for food purveyors) farm and food vendors providing some much need local goods throughout the day. There will also be select arcade games available to play throughout the market and tunes from local musicians from 11:30am until 2pm ! Plus select drinks like bloody marys, Irish cream, farmers market cocktail specials and drip coffee will be waiting for you! NOW WHAT: It's free! TIME | SPACE Jazz Series @ Freehand Chicago, 19 E Ohio St, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Some excellent music to help end your weekend the right way SO WHAT: Every Sunday at Broken Shaker you will be hearing some of the best psychadelic jazz in the city, brought to you in two 45 minute sets played by a different trio every week.
