Pictures at an Exhibition, a Multi-Sensory Performance Piece @ Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, 2320 W Chicago Ave, 7:30pm - 9:30pm, All Ages
WHAT:
Pictures At An Exhibition is a performance piece designed by Jeff Yang, creator of
In The Realm of Senses, who has combined different modes of art into a multi-sensory experience of sight, sound, taste, and smell.
SO WHAT: With original music written by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky for solo piano on paintings of Viktor Hartmann, the orchestral version by Maurice Ravel has been revised to just two players on eight instruments; Jeff Yang on violin, viola, cello, four baroque recorders, and Lyudmila Kakisova on piano. Mussorgsky’s music will be paired with animated video based on the lost Hartmann paintings, scents provided by French perfumer
Christophe Laudamiel, and sweets and libations by Chicago culinary destinations such as
Band of Bohemia,
Mango Pickle, and others.

SO WHAT: Cherry Moth Cake, the incredible duo of Nick and Lindsay DiFabbio, are back at Rotofugi with another mind-bending exhibit!
The New Breed continues and expands upon the story of the
Ghost Catcher, first told in their exhibit from October 2018. Rotofugi will have new paintings, pins, zines, toys and more plus the launch of the new online web comic from Cherry Moth Cake, Aqueous Meditation!

Chicago Pizza Summit @ Theater on the Lake, 2401 N Lake Shore Dr, 2:00pm - 5:00pm & 6:00pm - 9:00pm, 21+
WHAT: Chicago Pizza Summit is back for its fourth and largest serving yet
SO WHAT: Chicago’s favorite pizza institutions and cooks from around the city will gather to present their take on this beloved Windy City classic. Many participants will serve up their cheesy creations by the slice while others will present their unique twist and showcase different types of pizza-inspired cuisine! The summit will feature two different sessions (2 to 5pm and 6 to 9pm) and will feature a pop-up exhibit from the US Pizza Museum, the ultimate pizza photo booth, top Chicago DJs, a marketplace featuring limited edition collaborations with local makers, a silent auction benefiting the First Responders’ EMWQ Fund charity, a Chicago pizza pop-up art showcase by Ryan Duggan, and tons more!

Blue Man Group's Autism-Friendly Performance @ Briar Street Theatre, 3133 N Halsted St, 4pm - 6:30pm, All Ages
WHAT: Blue Man Group, a show that combines art, music, comedy and technology, is hosting its sixth annual autism-friendly performance.
SO WHAT: Slight modifications will be made to the Blue Man Group performance to create a sensory-friendly show that better accommodates individuals and families affected by autism. As part of the audience offerings for the autism-friendly performance, the Briar Street Theatre lobby will be transformed into a calming environment complete with bean bags, dim lighting and quiet corners for anyone seeking a sensory break from the excitement of the show. Sound levels during the performance will be reduced at select moments and noise-isolating headphones will be available for individuals upon request. Chicago is one of Blue Man Group's permanent production installations; the show is continually refreshed with new music, fresh stories, custom instruments and state-of-the-art technology. The group is owned by Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group.
