Playtime Radio: Lots of Art, Poetry, Music by The Locals, and the Pinball Expo

We collaborate with Playtime with Bill Turck and Kerri Kendall and appear on their Sunday afternoon arts radio show occasionally. Next week—October 13—Nancy Bishop, Stages editor, will join Bill and Kerri along with playwright David Alex. We'll talk with David about his new play, N, set to open at the Greenhouse Theater Center on October 24. Playtime broadcasts on WCGO, 1590AM and 95.9FM, each Sunday from 1 to 3pm and streams on Facebook. Hour One

We start with a bit about the late and legendary rock drummer Ginger Baker, cofounder of Cream. Inside Chicago or around the world, find out what's trending in music, art, theater, food, videogames, tech and more at ThirdCoastReview.com, where they curate your Chicago weekend. Megan Williamson tells us about some great visual arts events ahead of her show in New York. And we get a sneak peek of my interview with the curator of the only U.S. exhibition of Japanese artist, Tetsuya Ishida, at Wrightwood 659. Music and poetry from award-winning, Pulitzer Prize nominee John S. Green and brother Rich. And magician Al James takes a look at a local Nordic dining spot, Tre Kronor. Plus Bill being a general goof while Kerri fights to keep him in line.

Hour Two

In the second hour, The Locals, our Chicago alt-pop band, are live, plus a retrospective of their music, and drummer Aaron Coleman's side project, CokeDickMotorcycleAwesome. We hear a bit of the song "Mona Lisa" from the album Fog. Our old friend Rob Berk drops in to tell us about the upcoming Pinball Expo 2019, and how it has become a worldwide phenomenon. Next a song from the Locals frontwoman Yvonne Doll's first astounding solo album Bliss. We hear "Waking on Impact."
