It's snowing on Halloween. Just because hell has frozen over, it doesn't mean you should refrain from all the fun events going on. From horror movies to Dia de los Muertos celebrations, games day and markets, talks and art; there's tons to do this weekend! Plus there are plenty of Halloween popups at Headquarters (all weekend and beyond) and Punch House (10/31) and spooky October 31 events at record stores like No Requests and Shuga Records  are also going on! THURSDAY OCTOBER 31st Halloween (1978 & 2018) Double Feature @ The Logan Theatre, 2646 N Milwaukee Ave, 9:00pm WHAT: A perfect double feature for the Halloween season SO WHAT: Head over to the Logan Theatre and catch the film that started it all over forty years ago paired with its newly christened alternate sequel. FRIDAY & SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1st & 2nd 2019 INK Fest Chicago @ Illustration Student Group, 623 South Wabash Avenue, 11:00am - 6:00pm WHAT: Great art to peruse this weekend! SO WHAT: Illustration and Krafts (INK) Fest is an annual art convention hosted at Columbia College Chicago that encourages and celebrates both up-and-coming and experienced convention artists to showcase their work. You can check out the two-day convention’s schedule here, which includes talks and an artist alley! NOW WHAT: It’s free and open to the public! FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1st The Interview Show @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia, 6:30pm - 8:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Mark Bazer will begin filming for the fifth season of "The Interview Show," seen on WTTW PBS Channel 11. Filmed in front of an audience, "The Interview Show" features conversations that are substantive and entertaining. SO WHAT: This month's guests are: Abby McEnany, star/co-creator of Showtime's "Work in Progress"; Lauren Michele Jackson, author of White Negroes: When Cornrows Were in Fashion and Other Thoughts on Cultural Appropriation; Dan Hooper, head of the Theoretical Astrophysics Group at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory; and Todd Tue, director of the documentary, When It Breaks. Also Lawrence Peters will play country music. NOW WHAT: Doors at 6pm. Tickets are $15. Calaveras y Palmeras: A Dia de Muertos Party @ Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S Morgan St, 7:00pm, All Ages WHAT: A Dia de Muertos Party like no other! SO WHAT: Celebrate the memories of loved ones who have passed with this beautiful Day of the Dead Celebration! This event will have a dance floor with only the best vintage Latin sounds hand-picked, by some of the finest record collectors and selectors from Mexico, Cuba, Brazil and the U.S. Food, a small market, face painting and more will be waiting for you to enjoy as well as Marz Community Brewing pouring a special selection of fresh brews on tap. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10! SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd & 3rd 23 Hour Party People @ Smartbar/Metro, 3730 N Clark St, Saturday 7:00am - Sunday 5:00am, 21+ WHAT: 23 hours of dancing insanity SO WHAT: Celebrate the end of daylight savings time with one extra hour to party! The entire Metro building will be going all night (23 hours) with heavy-hitters performing throughout the crazy party including James Murphy, Ariel Zatina, and so many more! NOW WHAT: Tickets are currently $35 for this all night event! SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd International Games Day @ Harold Washington Library Center, 400 South State St, 10:00am - 4:00pm. All Ages WHAT: The 6th annual International Games Week returns to CPL for a daylong mini-con celebrating all things game and play. SO WHAT: This awesome event will allow attendees to chat with Chicagoland game creators and retailers while also offering a day of playing a variety of tabletop, video, and card games! There will be plenty of activities, including a demo of an in-development game from Cards Against Humanity, a game-themed movie marathon, new Breakout Box activities for teams, and a live play of Dungeons & Dragons by local podcasters Dungeons, Dice, & Everything Nice. Online registration is strongly encouraged. Flea Market @ Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave, 11:00am - 5:00pm WHAT: A family friendly event at one of our favorite venues in the city! SO WHAT: Everyone loves a good flea market! Hideout employees and some guests will be selling their personal treasures, such as vintage clothing, records, music gear, kitchen stuff, house goods, tools, and even some arts and crafts. There will be drinks available for purchase! Don’t miss it! NOW WHAT: It’s free! SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd Revolution Craft Show: pre-Holiday November Edition @ Revolution Taproom, 3340 N Kedzie Ave, Noon - 6:00pm, All Ages WHAT: Crafts and beer in one place SO WHAT: The Revolution Craft Show well be getting into the holiday spirit a little early with this market show at Revolution taproom. You’ll be able to get your holiday shopping done by shopping handcrafted goods from 40+ local artists. In addition to the unique mix of crafts, there will be plenty of Revolution Brewery beer and food trucks on hand. NOW WHAT: Bring a friend or two and enjoy the afternoon with this free, just bring some cash for good beer and great crafts.
