WHAT: Two nights of Diane Coffee
SO WHAT: Diane Coffee is the alter ego of Shaun Fleming. As Coffee, Fleming lets out all the strange but gentle psychedelia that reminds listeners of the best theatrical rock of years past. This is music you’ll need to strut into the weekend! Diane Coffee will be joined by the ever entertaining tunes of The Curls!
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $15 for the Thursday show and $12 in advance ($15 day of) for the Friday show. There is also a $40 two-show pass available if you need more Coffee in your life before the end of the year.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 23rd
Burlesque Revue @ Found Kitchen & Social House, 1631 Chicago Ave, Evanston IL, 8:00pm - 11:00pm, 21+
WHAT: Evanston's Found Kitchen & Social House (1631 Chicago Ave) is hosting its quarterly cabaret show!
SO WHAT: Burlesque Revue is individually curated by Eva la Feva featuring four dances and new costumes. The performances are in a traditional cabaret-style and an emcee entertains the crowd with jokes and juggles.
NOW WHAT: Entry for the show is $20. Reserved seating is available with a dinner reservation. Please call 847.868.8945 to reserve a dinner before the show.

Chicago Restaurant Week 2020 @ Various Restaurants, Various Locations, Various Times
WHAT: The 13th annual culinary celebration!
SO WHAT: Over 430 restaurants take part in Restaurant Week (which is actually 17 days long!), letting everyone have a taste of Chicago’s restaurant scene from Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese and more! You can feast on delicious multi-course menus all across the city and suburbs including over 100 new participants for 2019. You can find all the participating restaurants on the Restaurant Week website!
NOW WHAT: These multi-course meals are $24 for brunch or lunch, and $36 and/or $48 for dinner (excluding beverages, tax, and gratuity).

WHAT: A great screening of At the Video Store
SO WHAT: Take a trip down independent neighborhood video store history as it is both celebrated and eulogized in this wonderful documentary, At the Video Store. The film screens at the Gene Siskel Film Center as part of its “Stranger Than Fiction” documentary series, on Friday, Jan. 24 at 8pm and Saturday, Jan. 25 at 5:30pm. Director James Westby is scheduled to appear for audience discussions at both screenings. You can check out our full preview here!

WHAT: A new year, a new amazing show at House of Vans
SO WHAT: House of Vans Chicago always puts on great events and this one sounds like an blast. Join Chaz Bear,the mastermind behind musical project Toyo Y Moi, as he curates an immersive art experience as part of Vans Customade. The launch party will have guests engage with artwork from the collaboration alongside an analog liquid light show by Mad Alchemy and DJ sets by Toro Y Moi and friends, including Chaz Bear and A. Ferraro.

SO WHAT: Donut Fest is back for their 6th year! The best bakeries in Chicago will gather and bring you the best crullers, rings or long-johns for you to sample. Go out and discover all the tastes associated with these delicious entries from some of the city’s best bakers and finest coffee purveyors.

WHAT: Storytelling plus a little bit of karaoke
SO WHAT: Karaoke Storytellers, hosted by Chicago native and master storyteller Jacoby Cochran, takes a deep look into out personal histories with music as they extend a microphone to those who have a story about a song. Each show features 7 performers telling a short story about a song followed by a karaoke performance of the song. Performers include four booked members of the Chicago community, one headliner (Susan Messing this time around!), one audience volunteer, & Franny Giroux (the show’s creator).

WHAT: A solo set from the frontman of the 8x Grammy-nominated band Benjamin Gibbard
SO WHAT: Seriously, how can you not love Benjamin Gibbard? Gibbard has been making music that speaks directly to your soul for years with tons of great songs and albums with Death Cab for Cutie, including 2018's excellent Thank You for Today, and a solid solo output. Fans of Gibbard are accustomed to huge shows like Death Cab for Cutie's recent Red Rocks Amphitheater show and a massive set at Lollapalooza, so this more intimate setting is a welcome treat! Joining him will be the wonderful voice of Tara Jane O'Neil!
