THURSDAY, JUNE 13 (& BEYOND)

Chicago Humanities: New Talks and Video Archives @ Various Locations & Chicago Humanities Festival YouTube channel, your favorite browser or YouTube app, any time you want some inspiration, All Ages
WHAT: Interesting conversations with interesting people!
SO WHAT: Chicago Humanities Festival always brings some of the best ideas to the surface with entertaining programming that captures your imagination. Their year may be over, but certainly be on the lookout for updates for next year's season as their website is constantly updated with new talks.

FRIDAY - SUNDAY, JUNE 14 - JUNE 16 (& BEYOND)

The 2024 Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash @ SeatGeek Stadium, 7000 S Harlem Ave, Noon – 9:45pm, All Ages
WHAT: Pretty much every hip-hop act you need to see
SO WHAT: The 2023 Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash is coming to SeatGeek Stadium with some of the most cutting edge and celebrated hip-hop artists around. Seriously, look at this lineup! Nearly every slice of the hip-hop genre is represented, so don’t miss out on this incredible festival! Headliners Cactus Jack, Playboi Carti, and Chief Keef (!) are top-notch and the undercard features the likes of Big Sean, Destroy Lonely, Kodak Black, Ski Mask the Slump god, Denzel Curry, Lil Yachty, and so many more!
NOW WHAT: Tickets $395 for 3-day GA, $655 for 3-day VIP! Single day passes are also available for $150 for GA and $260 for VIP! Get out there and experience some great music!

Taste of Randolph @ Randolph St Between Peoria / Racine, 900 W Randolph St, Friday 5pm – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday Noon – 10pm, All Ages
WHAT: Another year of this foodie street festival
SO WHAT: Taste of Randolph brings together some excellent names in Chicago dining, featuring over 16 restaurants exemplary for delectable menus and irresistibly unique flavors, for this delicious event! There will also be a curated a list of bands and musicians (including the biggest names in Chicago house music) performing on two stages to entertain guests on their culinary trip down Randolph. Some of the band highlights include Local H,A-Trak b2b Lee Foss, Coco & Breezy, Phantom Planet, Friko, The Ramona Flowers, Lucky Boys Confusion and many more!
NOW WHAT: There is a $10 suggested donation to enter the event. Taste of Randolph benefits the West Loop Community Organization, which has been advocating for the West Loop neighborhood since 1991, supporting local businesses and economic development

Ribfest Chicago @ Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park Road and Berteau Avenue, Friday 5pm – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday Noon – 10pm, All Ages
WHAT: 50,000 pounds of pork for the middle of your month
SO WHAT: It’s Ribfest Chicago’s 24th outing! The Northcenter neighborhood festival brings together the community for 50,000 pounds of the best pork around and a fantastic musical lineup including XOCHI, Hello Weekend, RAVIV and many more! Highlights will also include the  “Best Ribs” and "People's Choice" competitions and a Kids Square for families to enjoy entertainment, inflatables, games and more.
NOW WHAT: $10 donation per person or $20 per family is requested to benefit the Northcenter community and help support local schools, nonprofit organizations, economic development, and greening efforts.

Chicago African Diaspora International Film Festival @ FACETS, 1517 W. Fullerton, Various Times
WHAT: Discover some increidble films during this three day festival.
SO WHAT: Since its inception, ADIFF Chicago has presented culturally significant films that explore the Black and Indigenous experience, giving a multidimensional voice to often misrepresented realities and peoples. Check out the lineup at their website! 
NOW WHAT: Tickets range from $10 (members) to $65 (festival pass).

ChiTown Movies @ Pilsen Neighborhood, 2343 S. Throop St, Various Times, All Ages
WHAT: An old school experience for the modern age
SO WHAT: Take a trip back in time and head out to a drive-in movie with ChiTown Movies. Ever since the pandemic started and shut down traditional movie screening, a few pop up drive-ins have arrived and ChiTown Movies has persevered, offering up modern movies in this retro setting. Check out their lineup below for showings this weekend and in the future!

NOW WHAT: Tickets are $35 per car for these movies, so bring the family for a safe movie watching experience

The Neo-Futurists’ The Infinite Wrench @ The Neo-Futurist Theater, 5153 N Ashland, Friday and Saturday 10:30pm, Sunday 7:00pm, 16+
WHAT: Quick plays live and online!
SO WHAT: The Neo-Futurists are back! Their Infinite Wrench is an  ongoing, ever-changing attempt to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes for a live audience. Now it’s actually a live audience that will be enjoying the performance in person!
NOW WHAT: Join the Neo-Futurists this weekend for $20!  The Infinite Wrench Goes Viral will be continuing til February (and possibly beyond) over at their Patreon

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 15 & 16

Chi-Soul Fest @ Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave, 10:00am – 10:00pm, All Ages
WHAT: The Chicago Soul Music Festival is an inter-generational musical conversation of Chicago soul music !
SO WHAT: Navy Pier will be filled with some excellent soul music throughout the campus including the likes of Ariel Posen, Meagan McNeal, Michael Damani, New Black Renaissance and many more! Check out the full lineup on Navy Pier’s website.
NOW WHAT: It’s free! Enjoy some soul music this weekend!

Gold Coast Art Fair @ Butler Field in Grant Park, S Lake Shore Dr & E Monroe St , 10am – 5pm
WHAT: 66th year of Gold Coast Art Fair
SO WHAT: Head out to Butler Field in Grant Park to see the work of 250 juried artists from across the country. Artists will be displaying beautiful pieces in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, and more. There will also be plenty of art demonstrations, art talks, 10 live acts perfoming live music, delicious food and drinks from 15 food tents and 4 bars, and more throughout the fair!
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of, for this fun art fair! Children 12 and under are free. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Chicago Furniture Bank

SATURDAY, JUNE 15

2024 Juneteenth Village Fest @ Anna & Frederick Douglass Park,1401 S Sacramento Dr, Noon - 8pm
WHAT: A one day festival celebrating Juneteenth, a day that "honors the date, June 19, 1865, when the last Confederate community of enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, received word that they had been freed from bondage."
SO WHAT: Head out to Anna & Frederick Douglass Park and enjoy the wonderful festivities that will include , carnival rides, games, local talent, food and music! Speaking of music, the festival will feature headliners Common, Dead Prez, and Domani!
NO WHAT: Entry is free! There will be pit seating available for $59.23!

Zine's Not Dead Fest @ Grace Church of Logan Square, 3325 W Wrightwood Ave, Noon - 6pm, & Zine's Not Dead @ Hairpin Arts Center, 2810 N Milwaukee Ave., 9pm
WHAT: The inaugural Zine's Not Dead Fest!
SO WHAT: Zine's Not Dead has been putting on incredible Zine reading events for years but this is their first full fledged festival! The Fest will bring together artist from around the world for a day of vending, talks, and workshops! Plus the day will end with the biggest Zine Not Dead reading! NOW WHAT: The fest is free to enter! The Zine's Not Dead Reading in the evening is $20 and will take place at Hairpin Arts Center (2810 N Milwaukee Ave.).

Daisy 15 Brewery Bash @ Half Acre Brewery Balmoral, 2050 W Balmoral Ave, 2pm - 10pm, All ages
WHAT: Daisy Cutter Turns 15!
SO WHAT: Head out to Half Acre Brewery to celebrate 15 years of their staple brew Daisy Cutter! Enjoy unique Daisy Cutter offerings, a special collaboration in honer of the anniversary, delicious food by Half Acre and Nettare, Flash Tatooos by Fudo Tattoo, Coffee from Dark Matter and live music from Lipschitz, Crisis Actress, and Astrobite!

Summer Fireworks @ Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Avenue, 10:00pm – 10:10pm
WHAT: Enjoy the spectacle of fireworks all summer long
SO WHAT: Take a trip to Navy Pier and check out their dazzling display of fireworks! Each show features dramatic and popular music soundtracks with some special occasion soundtracks sprinkled throughout the season. It’s the first fireworks show of the year so kick off summer with this explosive tradition.
NOW WHAT: It’s free!  Just make your way to Navy Pier, find a spot, and enjoy the show !

SUNDAY, JUNE 15

Sundays on State @ State Street from Lake to Adams, 11am – 8pm, all ages
WHAT: From Lake to Adams, State Street becomes an open street full of surprises!
SO WHAT: Neighbors from every Chicago community and beyond are invited to Sundays on State, an  interactive block party that will let you safely enjoy art, culture, active recreation, retail, bars, restaurants, and local attractions! Experience everyone’s neighborhood, the Loop, like never before!

Movies on the Big Screen and Home @ Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave, various times
WHAT: A great way to support a great local theater
SO WHAT: The Music Box Theatre is ready to fill that art house need in you with some excellent movies like Ghostlight, Babes, Ask Any Buddy , In a Violent Nature, Yorgonna Love It - A Yorgos Lanthimos Series, midnight screenings of Cruising, and more!
NOW WHAT: Sit back and enjoy a new film at one of our favorite movie theatres in the city!

University of Chicago Folk Festival @ Your favorite spot in your home, All Ages
WHAT: A fantastic folk festival
SO WHAT: University of Chicago Folk Festival might have come and gone but their digital presence is still around, making sure the wonderful music reaches as many people as possible! You can check out the past few years of performances on their Facebook page and their YouTube channel any time you want! This past year's performers included The Price Sisters, Brian Conway, Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton, Ruby John, Sean "Mack" McDonald, and many more!
