The days are getting shorter, the leaves are turning a subtle shade of orange and yellow, and pumpkin spice lattes are inexplicably everywhere you look. Autumn has arrived in Chicago and Halloween is just around the corner.
To get the city in the proper mood, DNAInfo reports that the Chicago Park District are going to screen classic horror films all throughout October at Northerly Island Park, the newly established nature preserve on Northerly Island.
This Friday night, they’re screening Poltergeist. Written by Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist is the story of a family who discover that their house is haunted by evil ghosts. These ghosts possess ordinary household items and terrorize the family before kidnapping one of the children and dragging her off to their shadow world.
The free film screening includes a massive campfire and marshmallows. You gotta bring your own blankets and chairs though.
The campfires are lit at 6 p.m. and Poltergeist starts at 7. Check out the trailer below.
