David Ross Thinks Chris Pratt Could Play Him in the Cubs World Series Movie

Last year, hell froze over and the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series to end a drought of 108 years. Game 7, with its palpable tension and rain delay, was extraordinarily cinematic. In all honesty, all that game really needed was a vaguely inspirational coda similar to “Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose” shouted over a melodramatic score composed by a band like Explosions in the Sky as David Ross hit a homerun in the dewy nighttime rain during one of his final appearances at bat and it would have been almost indistinguishable from television shows such as “Friday Night Lights.”
Based off of Ross’ brand new memoir, “Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages,” we’re not at all surprised that the story of the 2016 Cubs is being turned into a movie. We don’t have a release date or frankly anything yet, but we do have an idea of who Ross would potentially like to portray him in the film; Chris Pratt.

The Trib picked up that Ross was on “Good Morning America” yesterday to promote his appearances on “Dancing With the Stars.” In between talking up his sweet new dance moves and newfound fearlessness of sequin outfits, Ross let it slip that he wouldn’t mind if the Guardians of the Galaxy actor played him in the upcoming Cubs movie. "I met Chris Pratt and he, like, had a huge effect on me.” Ross said during his GMA interview. “Maybe if he shaved his head and looked more gray. You know, he's buff a little bit. … he really stuck out to me, so maybe him, I don't know." Eh. They don't quite look alike, but we can kinda see it. Pratt is charismatic ensemble player who could probably pull it off.
In other news, Ross is doing very well on “Dancing With the Stars” and has made it all the way to the semifinals while firmly establishing himself as the underdog. Now, if he can find a way to beat the loaded stack of Olympic gold medalist gymnast Simone Biles, NFL running back Rashad Jennings, and Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei, he may actually win the damn thing.
We have absolutely no idea what’s going on with the movie, but we find out Ross’ immediate dancing fate this upcoming Monday. The winner of this season of “Dancing With the Stars” will be announced on May 23.
